If you want a glass of water, it’s as simple as going to your refrigerator or faucet and getting one. Did you know, that for 1/6 of the world’s population, getting water requires walking miles, and getting CLEAN water is a near impossibility?

What’s the big deal? Disease. Over 80% of the world’s diseases come from dirty water, and they account for more deaths than all the world’s violence. 90% of these deaths are children, 42,000 of them every week. These are real people who are unable to access something we take for granted – clean water.

What if we could make a difference? What if we could provide a lifetime source of clean, fresh, safe water – for just one village? We can! A clean water well costs about $5,000. For a typical village of 250 men, women, and children, that means that $20 can change one person’s life for a lifetime.

Please watch the video. But – be careful, you’ll be moved. You’ll want to join with us to make a difference.

3 Reasons I like charity:water’s approach:

  1. I love the founder’s story. He’s a lot like me – he was a bad kid, living for himself – until God changed him. He started charity:water out of the new love for people God put in his heart.
  2. 100% of our donations go to water projects. They raise operating cost funding in a total separate way. That means that every single dollar raised by projects like GoGiveWell is directly applied to the field – 100%.
  3. They empower the local community. Charity:water provides all the materials, but they teach the local community how to build the well and maintain their own well. Locals build it. Locals maintain it. Locals enjoy the benefits.
